Lycheee Martini
Makes 1 drink

  • 2 ounces good quality vodka
  • 1 teaspoon syrup from can of lychees
  • 1 rambutan for garnish. (found seasonally in Chinatown markets)

Place the vodka in a shaker with lots of ice. Add 1 teaspoon of the syrup from a can of lychees. Reserve the lychees for garnish if you cannot find rambutan, or for a fruit salad or dessert. Shake well and strain into a martini glass. Slice the pod of the Rambutan and attach to the rim of the glass for garnish. Rambutan are round, red and prickly looking. The peeled fruit looks much like a lychee, but the taste is somewhat different.
